Four schools in Harrison were placed in a temporary lockout Tuesday morning after a report of gunshots, the Harrison Central School District says.
At 9:40 a.m., the Harrison Police Department informed the district that there was a report of gunshots near Marion Avenue in downtown Harrison.
According to town officials, preliminary reports indicate police received a phone call that someone had been shot in the face on Marion Avenue. However, officials later confirmed that no one was shot.
Police were on the scene at the home on Marion Avenue, where they confirmed that bullet casings were found and a window was broken.
A man was bleeding from the side of his face and was taken to a hospital in White Plains for treatment of an apparent facial laceration.
The man was believed to be living in a house on Marion Avenue. News 12 spoke with both homeowners off camera, who said they had no relationship to the man.
They said he broke a window in the house on Tuesday morning, fearful someone was going to shoot him. No information on the man has been released at this time.
As a precaution, the district initiated a lockout at Parsons Memorial Elementary School, Harrison Avenue Elementary School, Louis M. Klein Middle School and Harrison High School.
During a lockout, the building is locked and no one is permitted to enter the school, but the school day continues as normal within the building. The lockout was lifted around noon and children were allowed out for recess.
Officials stress there was no danger to the public nor kids during the incident.
