The sights, sounds and flavors of India filled Kensico Dam Plaza on Sunday as hundreds gathered for the annual Heritage of India Festival, a celebration of culture, tradition and community.

The event, organized by the Indian American Cultural Association of Westchester, showcased the diversity of India's many regions through traditional dance performances, music, cuisine and cultural exhibits.

"India is a big country. Every 500 miles the dress code changes, the food changes, even the color changes, and the culture changes," said Harry Singh, president of the association. "Everything is different."

Organizers say the festival is about more than showcasing traditions. It is also about fostering understanding, inclusion and cultural appreciation among people from all backgrounds.

Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed folk dances, music performances, food vendors and cultural presentations representing the many regions and traditions found across India. The event highlighted how cultural celebrations can bring communities together while preserving heritage for future generations.

The annual Heritage of India Festival continues to be one of Westchester's largest celebrations of Indian culture, drawing residents from across the region to experience its vibrant traditions and community spirit.
