A Queens man pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter charges for a Hunts Point crash that left a Brooklyn man and a Rockland County teen dead, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office says.
Enrique Lopez was doing stunts in his Chrysler at Bryant and Viele avenues just after 3 a.m. on Jan. 21, 2024, when he lost control and crashed into an oil truck, killing his passengers, Sabrina Villa-Gomez-Gonzalez, 15, and Gilvante Roberston, 21.
A third passenger, 17-year-old Aaliyah Torres, also of Rockland County, was left fighting for her life.
Investigators say the Chrysler was equipped with a stolen engine.
Police arrested Lopez a short time later, initially charging him with manslaughter, criminal possession of stolen property, criminally negligent homicide and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was indicted the following month.
Prosecutors say Lopez pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter for the deaths of Gonzalez and Roberson and assault for the serious injuries Torres suffered.
A wake was held for Gonzalez, of Nanuet, back in 2024, where friends spoke out about her death.
"She was a minor and maybe it could have been prevented now we can share awareness," said Ana Maeda. "There are other ways we can as a community help these young adults stay here and be safe."
Lopez waived his right to appeal and will be sentenced on June 17.
