Dozens of tall ships from more than 20 countries are heading to New York for Sail250, a major celebration of the U.S. 250th birthday.
The Sail4th 250 event runs July 4–8, featuring a Parade of Sail through New York Harbor, along with public ship tours, viewing areas, and special cruises.
Some of the best public viewing spots for the Parade of Sail are expected to include waterfront areas along Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge Park and parts of Staten Island facing the harbor.
Elevated piers and open shoreline spaces along the East River and Upper New York Bay will also offer strong sightlines as the ships pass through the harbor.
Several charter companies, including Classic Harbor Line, are also offering special excursion cruises for a closer on-the-water view of the festivities.
