Voters across the Hudson Valley are deciding one of the country’s most closely watched congressional races, with control of New York’s 17th Congressional District at stake.
Republican Rep. Mike Lawler is seeking a third term against Democrat Cait Conley, an Army combat veteran and former national security official.
MORE:
The district includes all of Rockland and Putnam counties, most of northern Westchester County and parts of Dutchess County.
Immigration and ICE enforcement are among the key issues for voters, along with affordability concerns, including taxes, gas prices, federal funding and utility costs.
Relations with Israel are also a major issue in the district, particularly in Rockland County, where about 31% of the population identifies as Jewish, according to the Jewish Virtual Library.
