Tuesday was the season’s first snowstorm across the Hudson Valley, and Orange County residents were faced with some messy road conditions.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus says they were shy of 200 reported car accidents.
No significant injuries were reported, but Neuhaus says this serves as a good reminder to take it slow when heading out the door.
“People have to allocate some extra time, take it a little bit easier and let the plow trucks do what they need to do,” said Neuhaus.
Looking ahead to Wednesday morning, commuters could be faced with slick conditions as snow that was pushed off to the side may melt.
Before heading home for the night, crews in Middletown reloaded their trucks with salt so they can get to work right away if needed.
A spokesperson for AAA Northeast is reminding drivers to invest in a good ice scrapper and keep your car filled with water bottles and blankets in case of an emergency.
