The World Cup final is coming to MetLife Stadium this weekend, but fans without tickets can still join the excitement in the Hudson Valley.
Fans will be able to watch a live broadcast of the championship match on giant screens while enjoying interactive soccer activities, giveaways, entertainment and local food vendors.
Organizers say gates open at noon, giving attendees three hours to enjoy the festivities before kickoff at 3 p.m.
Officials expect thousands of fans to attend.
“There’s going to be over 3 billion people watching the final from all across the world,” said Justin Brannan, senior director of major event operations for Gov. Kathy Hochul. “This is the biggest sporting event on the planet.”
Brannan said the goal is to make the World Cup experience accessible to everyone, including those unable to attend the match in person.
“There’s going to be over a dozen food trucks. There’s going to be a DJ there from Power 105.1 and from Z100 as well. It’s just going to be a lot of fun,” he said.
Organizers say safety planning has been underway for years, with state and local agencies working together to prepare for the event.
“We’ve been planning for this event for years to ensure everyone stays safe,” Brannan said.
Fans are encouraged to take Metro-North to the Valhalla station, which is a short walk from the venue.
