From scratch-made pies to hearty comfort food, the American Pie Company has become a popular destination for locals and travelers alike.
Baker Eduardo Nieto says making pies is about more than baking.
"I like to make pies because I like to make people happy."
The bakery produces fresh pies daily, along with cakes, cookies, crumb cakes and cupcakes. Its restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, featuring what co-owner David Ahearn calls classic American comfort food.
Guests can enjoy favorites like chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie, pot roast and turkey dinners.
The holiday season is the busiest time of year, with apple, apple crumb and pumpkin pies topping the list of customer favorites. In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, the bakery turns out as many as 2,500 pies in just four days.
Customers can also take home frozen, ready-to-bake options, including savory pot pies and fruit pies. Ahearn says the combination of small-town charm and homemade food has helped make the restaurant a destination in northern Fairfield County.
Road trippers agree.
"Just the trip here is wonderful," one customer said.
