Two Westchester County nonprofits helped families on Saturday prepare for the new school year as back-to-school costs continue to rise.
Teens Under Construction hosted its annual Free Store at Ridge Hill, where about 600 preregistered shoppers received school supplies, shoes and other essentials.
Founder Yocasta Jimenez said the event is designed to support community members who face a variety of challenges.
The YMCA in New Rochelle partnered with local organizations to distribute more than 1,000 backpacks, drawstring bags and school supplies to families from across the tri-state area.
