A three-alarm fire tore through a large two-story home at 37 Calton Road in New Rochelle this morning.
Fire Chief Andrew Sandor tells News 12 the call came in at 3:15 a.m., and when crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames. According to Chief Sandor, the homeowners are away, but a house sitter was in the house and that person was already outside the home when crews arrived.
Fire officials say they had no choice but to fight the flames from the outside of the home because the flames were too intense to go in.
It took about two hours before the fire was declared under control. About 50 firefighters worked at the scene.
No one was injured, and no word yet on a possible cause.
