Three police officers are recovering and a Tuckahoe festival reduced its hours after a teen takeover rocked the event Friday night
Eastchester police say they mobilized at the Immaculate Conception and Assumption Festival due to tumultuous crowds.
The event that reached capacity between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. began to see groups engaging in extreme behaviors such as fighting and illegally entering the premises.
The carnival became so chaotic that departments from across Westchester and Putnam counties had to be called in.
Police responded and shut down the scene by around 9 p.m.
The crowds headed south to Bronxville and to the Tuckahoe train station. While dispersing, three officers were injured, with one being taken to the hospital. That officer has since been released.
The carnival is now open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. These will be strictly reinforced.
