A young German shepherd is recovering after it was found abandoned with her mouth taped shut this week.
The dog was found near Starr Ridge Road in Southeast Tuesday night.
Officials say the dog’s muzzle had been wrapped so tightly that it wore away her skin.
The dog is now getting vet treatment and is expected to recover.
"One of the friendliest dogs you want to see. She is going to have some dental work; they have to wait for the swelling to go down and then she’s going to have some surgery,” says Putnam SPCA Chief Ken Ross.
Putnam’s SPCA is investigating who is behind abandoning the dog. It also says the dog will eventually be up for adoption, and there is already a list of interested candidates.
