Neighbors are coming together once again for a meaningful cause in Pleasantville.
The 8th annual “Into The Light” walk is set to take place this weekend as part of the Break The Hold Foundation’s efforts to support young people.
The pre-dawn walk honors 19-year-old Brian Halloran, who took his own life in 2018.
His father started the movement to raise awareness about adolescent mental health and provide support for young people.
“We try to teach the kids about mental health instruction and emotional regulation,” he said. “We provide a curriculum that gives kids skills to manage their emotional regulation.”
Organizers say the event aims to bring the community together while shining a light on mental health challenges facing teens.
The walk begins at 4:30 Sunday morning at Pleasantville High School.
