Officials in Irvington are warning residents after a rise in coyote sightings in the area.
Police say two recent sightings were reported near local schools on Monday. Village officers and Greenburgh Animal Control responded and saw coyotes running into nearby wooded areas.
Officials say the animals appeared to be acting normally and did not show signs of aggression or illness. The warning comes after a recent incident earlier this month where a 5-year-old rescue dog survived a coyote attack.
Authorities are urging residents to take precautions. They say pets should always be supervised outdoors and any sightings should be reported to Irvington police.
