A federal wrongful death lawsuit against the town of Greenburgh and its police department is now heading to trial.

Twenty-one-year-old Jonathan Maldonado died in 2017 after a struggle with police.

Officers had responded to a report of shoplifting at the Best Buy on Central Park Avenue.

In a $20 million lawsuit, Maldonado’s mother blames police for her son’s death.

Police say his death was due to a drug overdose.

The trial is set to start on July 13.
