A man arrested in Westchester after a Long Island shooting has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
Authorities say Eric Whilby was taken into custody near Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle in early June.
Police say Whilby is accused of shooting the mother of his children on Long Island before fleeing the area.
Investigators allege the shooting happened because the woman did not come straight home from work.
Officials say the victim survived but was left paralyzed by her injuries.
Whilby was arraigned on attempted murder charges and entered a not guilty plea.
Authorities say he is being held without bail as the case moves forward.
