Several people were rushed to the hospital after a fire broke out in Mamaroneck.
Crews from across Westchester County responded to the scene at 912 Lester Ave.
According to officials, firefighters began to battle the blaze as police officers worked to rescue those inside the house.
"Oh my gosh, I was so scared for the family because, you know, I know them," said Silvestre Arenas, who lives next door to where the fire broke out.
Another resident, Bill Sjostedt, saw the flames and immediately tried to help.
"I ran to the garage to grab the garden hose, and I went around back, and I hooked it up to the faucet in the back. I turned it on and forgot the water was off, so I had to turn the water on but then the nozzle decided it was going to break, it wasn't going to work. I felt so bad because I couldn't get water on it," said Sjostedt.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Officials have not yet released information on the extent of the injuries.
