The National Weather Service confirmed a that tornado made landfall on Tuesday in Purchase and Rye Brook.

The NWS said the tornado started at 4:10 p.m. in Purchase and traveled 1.82 miles until it finished in Rye Brook seven minutes later.

The tornado had an estimated peak wind of 85 mph and was 40 yards long, weather officials say.

The National Weather Service said it likely started on the Manhattanville College Campus, where several trees were uprooted.

Multiple downed trees were seen in the area of Loden Lane right off of Lincoln Avenue in Purchase on Tuesday.

Landscaper Apolinar Dominguez says he and his team began cleaning Tuesday at 7 p.m. and did not end until 3 a.m.

"...Very, very, very bad. The big trees were right in the middle of the driveway and we had to cut them all out and clear the driveways," he said.

Dominguez estimates it will take his team two to three weeks to completely restore the area.

Two miles away, the Manhattanville University campus was closed Wednesday to allow crews to clean branches and debris. A spokesperson told News 12 one building had minor damage to a window and possibly a roof.

A tree even fell on a car in the area. However, no injuries were reported.

Over in Rye Brook, Village Administrator Christopher Bradbury says there were some fallen trees, street flooding and downed wires.

"Thankfully, no one was injured, no homes were damaged," said Bradbury.
