The Westchester County Health Department says it shut down two beaches in the county due to heightened levels of bacteria in the water.

Harbor Island Beach in Mamaroneck and Surf Club Beach in New Rochelle are closed to the public until officials deems the waters safe again. The county announced the closures on Thursday.

Officials advise those who do decide to visit either beach to stay away from the water.
