City of Newburgh police are investigating a violent fight that broke out inside a Lake Street restaurant over the weekend, leaving a large front window shattered and one person injured.
Police say officers were called to Tulum Mexican Restaurant at 136 Lake St. around 5:44 p.m. Sunday for a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they found a large crowd spread throughout the inside and outside of the restaurant.
According to police, employees told officers the fight started between patrons and quickly escalated, drawing in a larger group. During the melee, a large front window facing the plaza parking lot was damaged and later boarded up.
Police say one patron suffered minor cuts to their arm and leg from broken glass. No arrests have been made at this time.
