A police-involved shooting investigation is now underway in Ulster County.
It happened after a man displayed what appeared to be a handgun to troopers.
The state police say they got a report of a nan holding a gun while walking on Queens Highway in the town of Rochester on Monday.
Troopers are said to have given multiple commands for him to show his hands, but he refused, then showed the weapon.
That’s when troopers shot him.
The man was taken to Westchester Medical Center where is listed in critical condition.
Investigators later determined that the weapon was actually a pellet gun.
The man’s name has not yet been released.
