The Attorney General's Office says New York State troopers will not face any charges in a fatal police-involved shooting.
In April 2025, two state troopers opened fire on an Orange County woman after she failed to drop what appeared to be a gun.
It happened while troopers Kevin Jacks and James Curtin were responding to a domestic incident at a mobile home in Deerpark.
Attorney General Letitia James says prosecutors would not be able to prove that Jacks and Curtin's use of deadly force was unjustified.
Officials say 69-year-old Nancy Loftus was shot and killed after ignoring repeated commands to drop her weapon.
Police say the troopers later recovered a pellet gun at the scene.
