A Mount Vernon police officer is facing stalking charges after being arrested in Florida.
News 12 has confirmed that Officer Frank Lucadamo was arrested in St. Johns County, according to Florida officials.
Mount Vernon city officials say Lucadamo has been suspended with pay and is currently out of work.
Residents in Mount Vernon reacted with frustration and concern.
"I'm very disappointed and shocked to hear this," said Pamela Mullings.
This arrest follows two other recent incidents involving Mount Vernon police officers.
On March 26, Detective Kyren Braunskill was arrested and accused of selling guns to a Long Island gang.
On April 8, Officer Brandon Hunter-Carney was charged with criminal possession of stolen property after allegedly stealing an $800,000 check.
"Who is properly vetting these officers that have been on the force?" said Mount Vernon resident Jesse Van Lew. "If they've been sliding through from the last couple of years, imagine what's been going on years previous to that."
Police officers note that in both cases, the alleged crimes happened before the officers joined the department.
Councilmember Andre Wallace tells News 12 that the city council is looking into this.
"We've got to figure out what's the best practices to make sure that this doesn't happen again. We have to prevent this from continuously happening in the future," said Wallace.
