Police say a large fight broke out outside El Primo Restaurant on Mamaroneck Avenue on the night of Feb. 7. News 12 obtained video that appears to show a person being carried out of the restaurant, followed by a large altercation that spilled onto the street.
"It's a shame that it happened," said White Plains resident Mark Andrew. "Every square inch of Mamaroneck Avenue and each bar and outside the bar has cameras. So, I though that would quell that instinct of people who what to have bad tempers and get into fight. I thought people wouldn't do that so much anymore."
The restaurant was temporarily shut down after the incident but has since reopened.
The bar's owner didn't want to talk on camera but he tells News 12 that he made the call to close because staff members were shaken up after the incident.
According to video, it appears the altercation happened at 7 p.m.
"That time that it happened is definitely alarming because it's 7 p.m. I mean, people just got out of work," said White Plains resident Luke Andersen.
Police say the restaurant was issued a violation for failing to comply with the city's video surveillance ordinance.
The City of White Plains is conducting a separate investigation to determine whether any building code violations occurred.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police at 914-422-6914.
