A White Plains man has been sentenced to three years in prison for choking his former partner during a violent assault, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors say Jermaine Alleyne attacked the victim inside her apartment last year. Authorities say Alleyne choked the woman, pulled her by the hair and punched her multiple times.
The victim suffered a fractured nose and bruising, prosecutors say.
During sentencing Tuesday, the victim addressed the court and described the lasting impact of the assault.
“The fear from this incident has not left me,” she said. “It affects my sleep, my mental health and my ability to trust others.”
